Why follow-up slips after a quote — and what to do about it

The work after a quote is sent is usually not one job. It is a sequence that gets dropped when the week gets busy.

The gap is rarely the quote itself

Most teams can send a quote. The leak is what happens next: nobody checks whether it was seen, the CRM stays on “sent”, and the customer only hears from you if someone remembers. That is repeatable work, and it is easy to postpone.

Separate the role from the exception

A follow-up role can watch for the next useful step. A person still decides when a price should change, when a conversation is not a fit, or when the customer needs a longer conversation. The automation should know when to stop.

When one role is not enough

If the same enquiry also needs qualification, a CRM update and a meeting booked, follow-up is only one part of the sequence. That is where a coordinated sales team is often a stronger starting point than adding another disconnected task.
